Johann I. von Hohnstein

Count Johann I von Hohnstein zu Heldrungen , later to Vierraden and Schwedt (* around 1420 , † November 30, 1498 ) was regent of the County of Hohnstein from 1450 to 1498 .

Life

He was the third son of Count Heinrich VI. (IX) von Honstein-Kelbra (1379–1450) and Margarete von Weinsberg (1385–1432).

Johann studied science in 1447 at the University of Erfurt , then joined the soldier's status and fought in the war of the Teutonic Order against Prussia and took over the government after the abdication of his brother Ernst I. von Honstein-Heldrungen . In 1457 he pledged his rule to Schwarzburg . In 1461 he went on a pilgrimage to Palestine with Duke Wilhelm of Saxony , redeemed the Heldrungen rule Heldrungen after his return and sold the castle and rule to Gebhard VI in 1484 . from Mansfeld . In 1481 he acquired the rule of Schwedt an der Oder from the Prince of Anhalt , with which he was hereditary in the same year by Elector Johann Cicero of Brandenburg .

Marriage and offspring

Johann married Anna (Agnes) von Anhalt-Zerbst (* around 1435; † April 8, 1492) for the first time in 1467; (∞ I: (between November 8, 1456 and June 22, 1461, divorce before 1467) Heinrich II. Von Plauen ), daughter of Georg I (Anhalt-Zerbst) (1390–1474) and his second wife Euphemia von Schlesien -Oels (1390 / 1404–1442), the marriage had six children:

His second wife was a Freiin von Plesse , sister of Dietrich von Plesse.
