Johann Jacob Altdorfer

Johann Jacob Altdorfer (born March 1741 in Schaffhausen ; † 30 May 1804 ibid) was a Swiss Protestant theologian and preacher .

Life

Johann Jacob Altdorfer, whose father was a surgeon in Schaffhausen , studied at the University of Basel and traveled through Germany as a tutor with his pupil from 1768 to 1771 . In 1772 Altdorfer became a preacher in his hometown . Another two years later he became professor of philosophy there . He was accepted as a teacher at the Latin school there in 1778 and appointed rector in 1782. Later he became professor of theology and examiner there ; at the same time he was active as a preacher at the Schaffhausen Minster. In 1804 Johann Altdorfer died in Schaffhausen.
