Johann Jakob Guth von Sulz

Johann Jakob Guth von Sulz – Durchhausen (born 1543 ; died 1616 ) was the ducal chamber master and fiefdom holder of the Sulzer Saline . In his will he bequeathed his valuable art chamber to the Duke of Württemberg .

Life

Johann Jakob Guth von Sulz - Durchhausen , lost his father as a small child, attended school in Villingen and came to the court of Count Joachim von Lupfen as a noble boy in 1554 . He was then taught languages, Lutheran religion and knightly exercises in Stuttgart until 1563. He then returned to his mother and studied agriculture on their own property. After her death, he married Miss Güss von Güssenburg.

Duke Christoph brought Johann Jakob Guth von Sulz to his court as a councilor in Württemberg in 1568. In 1576, a noble councilor, Duke Ludwig appointed him his chamber master in 1579. He held this office until his death. Johann Jakob Guth von Sulz was a passionate collector of art objects and rarities.
