Ekkehard "Maxe" Zeidler (born February 28, 1939 in Bockwitz ) is a former German football player and coach. In the course of his career he played for BSG Energie Cottbus and ASG Vorwärts Cottbus in the second-class GDR league .
Career
player
Ekkehard Zeidler was born in Bockwitz, today's Lauchhammer-Mitte , and began playing football at the local SG Stahl Lauchhammer-Ost when he was nine. In 1950 the club was converted into a company sports community . Zeidler went through the youth teams of the club and joined the military service in November 1958 and thus came to ASG Vorwärts Cottbus , which at that time competed in the third-class 2nd GDR league . Zeidler played his first game in the following season, in which he played a total of 15 games and scored five goals. He scored his first goal for ASG Vorwärts Cottbus in the game against BSG Stahl Stalinstadt . At the end of the season, Zeidler finally rose to the GDR league with the ASG . Furthermore, he came in 1959 to a use in the FDGB Cup , in which he scored a hit. Zeidler eventually became a regular at the ASG and in 1960 reached a place in the middle of the table with ASG Vorwärts Cottbus. He was used in 25 games and scored nine goals.
In 1964 Ekkehard Zeidler, who had scored 39 goals in 110 competitive games in the six years at Vorwärts Cottbus, moved to city rivals SC Cottbus . Zeidler made his debut for the new club on May 24, 1964 in a 4-0 win against BSG Motor Dessau , in which he immediately scored a brace. From the following season Zeidler came both for the professional team in the GDR league and for the second team of SC Cottbus in the Cottbus district league . In addition to eight games in the GDR league, in which he scored nine goals, he completed 18 games in the district league for SC Cottbus II. With SC Cottbus, Zeidler narrowly missed promotion to the GDR league with second place in the table .
In the first half of the 1965/66 season Zeidler completed all 17 league games and scored four goals. After Zeidler left the team after a cross-border match between BSG Energie Cottbus and Wacker 04 Berlin to visit his sister who lived in West Berlin , he was finally demoted to the second team in the second half of the season. In the following season he came in the district league only on five missions. It was not until the 7th match day of the 1966/67 season that Ekkehard Zeidler returned to the first team, which was now playing BSG Energie Cottbus . In the season he finally came to 16 games and scored four goals. Zeidler played his last game in the GDR league on April 23, 1967 in a 3-2 win against BSG Lokomotive Halberstadt , after which he was only used in the second team, for which he completed 71 games until 1970. In 1970 Zeidler then moved to BSG Progress Cottbus , for which he played a few times in the district league and also worked as a coach. In 1972 he ended his career.
Trainer
During his time as a player at ASG Vorwärts Cottbus, Zeidler coached the youth team from 1961 to 1962 and the club's junior team from 1963 to 1964. After a year at BSG Traktor Döbbrick , Zeidler became player-coach at BSG Progress Cottbus. After finishing his career as a player in 1972, he coached the team for another year. In 1973 he returned to ASG Vorwärts Cottbus and trained the second team. The following year the ASG was relocated to Kamenz and from then on played as ASG Vorwärts Kamenz in the Dresden district league. Zeidler became the first head coach of the ASG. After another year, Zeidler became head coach of BSG Progress Cottbus for a second time.

After eight years he moved to local rivals TSG Lübbenau 63 . At the end of the season he reached thirteenth place in the table in the Cottbus district league, before TSG had four points been deducted. After the season Zeidler left TSG again. In 1989 he returned to the junior division of Turbine Vetschau, from 1990 he coached the successor club SpVgg Blau-Weiß 90 Vetschau and was promoted to the then fourth-class Brandenburg Association in the first season . In the 1994/95 season, the SpVgg Blau-Weiß reached only the penultimate place in the now fifth-rate association league. Zeidler then moved to FSV Glückauf Brieske-Senftenberg in the Oberliga Nordost . Also in 1995 Zeidler acquired his A license because the GDR trainer's license was no longer recognized.
In 1996, Glückauf Brieske-Senftenberg was relegated to the Association League. During the following season Zeidler moved to SC Spremberg in 1896 in the Brandenburg state class.
