Matthias "Rudi" Rudolph (born September 6, 1982 in Belzig , GDR ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .
Career
player
Matthias Rudolph was born in Belzig and grew up in Niemegk , where he started playing football at FSV Grün-Weiß . In the C-youth he went to FC Stahl Brandenburg and two classes higher to SV Babelsberg 03 . There he was allowed to play in the first team in the regional league for the first time at the age of 18 .
At the end of the 2001 season, the team rose to the 2nd Bundesliga . Since Rudolph first played in the A-youth team and then completed nine months of basic military service, this year and the next there was only one assignment in the first and otherwise only in the association league team. It was not until the 2002/03 season, when Babelsberg's first was relegated again, that he was a substitute from the 26th day of the match and from the 28th day of the team's regular player. However, it was already clear that the club had taken over financially. He had to file for bankruptcy and was forcibly relegated.
The following year, the man from Brandenburg was looking for a new challenge and moved to the Hessen Kassel upper division . The runner-up of the previous year wanted to try again, but in 2004 only came second. The following year was disappointing and Kassel played in the lower table regions, which is why Rudolph moved within the league to KSV Baunatal after his contract expired in the 2005/06 season. Although he had been a regular player in Kassel as before, he left the club after a year and went back to his home country for SV Babelsberg.
The year of his return coincided with the return to the third division. In this and the following three years "Rudi", who originally started as a striker or left winger, became a fixture on the left side of defense and was able to assert himself again and again against newcomers. With the exception of the first half of the 2008/09 season, he held his position as a regular player; the year was not going well overall, Babelsberg missed the qualification for the new 3rd division . In the following season, the SVB managed to rise as champions, Rudolph made 30 appearances again.
Reaching the third highest division meant his second chance in professional football. On the 1st day of the 2010/11 season he came as a substitute in the game. However, after that his missions were seldom and before the winter break a metatarsal fracture forced him to take a longer break. In the end of the season, however, he returned as a regular player and was able to secure relegation with the club. In 2013 he ended his career.
Trainer
Matthias Rudolph, who has been studying sports and geography since his time in Kassel, then trained the B-youth of SV Babelsberg 03. In summer 2015 Rudolph became assistant coach of the women's Bundesliga team 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and took over at the end the 2015/16 season the head coaching chair of the Potsdam coaching veteran Bernd Schröder .
Personal
In addition to his coaching career, Rudolph is currently working as a teacher at the Humboldt Gymnasium in Potsdam .
