Daniel Kraus (born May 11, 1984 in Leipzig ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer goalkeeper .

Career as a player

Kraus played for Unity Rottleben and Eintracht Sondershausen in his youth . In 1997 he moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena . In the Regionalliga season 2005/06 Kraus played the first five games of the season for the Thuringians. Then he tore a cruciate ligament and was replaced by Christian Person as the first goalkeeper. Even without further commitment, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Carl Zeiss . In the first second division year he came on the 28th matchday against SpVgg Greuther Fürth for his first second division. He came on in the 22nd minute for the injured Georgi Lomaia . It was his only season use. In the 2007/08 season he played eight league games and was relegated to the third division with Jena at the end of the season . After he was no longer listed in the FC Carl Zeiss Jena squad, Daniel Kraus was back in the first team in the second half of the 2009/10 season and ended his career as a goalkeeper after this season.

Trainer

From July 17, 2010 he was the goalkeeping coach of the women's Bundesliga team FF USV Jena . After head coach Thorsten Zaunmüller was dismissed, the club initially hired him as an interim coach. Since he does not have the A license required by the DFB to work permanently as head coach of the Bundesliga club, he was replaced by the former GDR national player Konrad Weise in early 2011 , but remained an assistant coach as well as under Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. After their departure at the beginning of February, he took over the team again on an interim basis and then rose to the official head coach on February 14, 2012. On July 13, 2012 he was introduced as the goalkeeping coach of FC Carl Zeiss Jena , but remains a full-time coach of FF USV Jena. On March 14, 2016 the FF USV Jena announced that Kraus will not extend his contract and will go to SGS Essen as head coach . He worked there for three years. On November 30, 2018, Kraus signed a contract with SC Freiburg as the successor to Jens Scheuer as head coach with the start of the 2019/2020 women's Bundesliga season.
