Konrad Weise (born August 17, 1951 in Greiz ) is a former German football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association . He played there for FC Carl Zeiss Jena , with whom he won three cups. Weise is an 86-time national player and participated with the senior national team in the 1974 World Cup in Germany. With the Olympic team , he won at the 1976 Summer Olympics , the gold medal . Later he was active as a football coach .
Player career
BSG and club stations
Weise joined the company sports community (BSG) progress in his native Greiz in 1961 and played there in the junior teams until 1966. At the age of 15 he was delegated to the football focus of the region, the FC Carl Zeiss Jena. There, Weise first played in the youth and junior team. He was trained as a toolmaker at the sponsoring company of FC Carl Zeiss.
Shortly after his 19th birthday, he was used on September 12, 1970 for the first time in a league game . His most successful games with FC Carl Zeiss included the FDGB Cup finals in 1972, 1974 and 1980, in which he was successful with the team. In the upper league, way was runner-up five times. In the 16 years of his membership in the first team of FC Carl Zeiss Jena, Weise played 420 competitive games: DDR-Oberliga 310 (17 goals), 51 national (seven goals) and 59 European cup games in the European Cup and the IFC (one goal). National team
At the youth competitions of friendship he took 3rd place in Hungary in August 1968 with the GDR junior selection. At the 1969 UEFA junior tournament, the unofficial European championship of this age group, he was second after a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria after drawing lots and in 1970 - also after drawing lots - after a 1-1 draw against Scotland's unofficial junior European champions. In this tournament, Weise was the captain of the East German team. A total of way completed 27 junior international games by 1970, in which he was mainly used in defense . Even before his first appearance in the GDR league, way played his first international match on July 27, 1970. In the 5-0 victory over Iraq's selection in Jena , he was substituted on for midfielder Harald Irmscher in the 65th minute and scored the goal in the 88th minute. It took almost a year, but even before his 20th birthday, Weise won a regular place in the senior national team. He initially played in midfield, later as a pre-stopper analogous to his league games. During the 1974 World Cup , Weise played all six tournament games of the GDR selection team, including the legendary game against the selection of the Federal Republic of Germany , which was won 1-0 in Hamburg . Coaching career
In 1983, even during his time as a football player, Weise acquired a physical education teacher diploma. He had the prerequisites to be able to work as a trainer in the future. Immediately after the end of his playing career, FC Carl Zeiss Jena Weise took over as coach for the youth division. Under his guidance, talents like the later national players Bernd Schneider , Jörg Böhme and Robert Enke grew up. Weise later became assistant coach of the FC Carl Zeiss Jena league team. In 1998, Weise left Jena and became assistant coach at the third division FSV Zwickau under Hans-Jürgen Dörner . For the 1999/2000 season he took over the post of head coach, but unfortunately he could not avert the team's relegation to the Oberliga Nordost 2000/01 . After three years, his position as head coach ended. He then coached the fifth-class 1. FC Gera 03 until 2005 . On December 29, 2010, Weise became the sports director of the women's soccer club FF USV Jena in the Bundesliga .
