history

A traditional club

The tradition of KSV Baunatal football began in 1914. On the occasion of a gymnastics festival, a football game was played for the first time on a meadow in Baunatal. From 1976 to 1979 the club played in the 2nd Bundesliga . During this time the KSV played its home games in the Auestadion in Kassel. The KSV then played in the amateur league of Hesse until 1991 , after which it was temporarily relegated to the state league . Since 1999 the KSV Baunatal belonged again to the highest Hessian league, the soccer Hessenliga .

The greatest success was promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1975/76 season. The KSV remained in the league until 1979 and played a total of 114 games. In 2013 the club was promoted to the Southwest Regional Football League . After 17th place in the 2014/15 season, the club was relegated to the Hessen League again after two years.

The way to the 2nd Bundesliga (1964-1976)

After the founding clubs KSV Altenritte and KSV Altenbauna merged in 1964, continuous work was carried out on building up the football department. With a mixture of young players and veterans, it was possible to move up from the A-Liga to the Hessenliga within six years. The rise was followed in 1971 by the descent. However, after only one season in the group league, it was possible to rise again to the Hessen league. The KSV was able to stay in the league after being promoted and play in the top group. Additions such as Herbert Maciossek, who previously worked as a contract player at KSV Hessen Kassel and Freiburg FC , helped KSV Baunatal advance. With later second division players such as Horst Kilian, Bernd Lichte , Siegfried Bronnert , Werner Bliska and Erhard Hofeditz achieved 4th place in the Hessenliga in the 1974/75 season. With players like Otto Kastl and Georg Patzer, the club expanded its squad in the 1975/76 season. In the end, KSV Baunatal, under coach Hans Michel, was 3 points ahead of VfR Bürstadt and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.

Adventure 2nd Bundesliga (1976-1979)

In the 1976/77 season, Peter Velhorn, a coach, came to KSV Baunatal who had already gained experience in the regional league and Bundesliga with SC Tasmania 1900 Berlin , Schwarz-Weiß Essen , Wacker 04 Berlin and 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . With Bernd Blacha, Jochem Ziegert from KSV Hessen Kassel and Manfred Grawunder , Norbert Fricke from Eintracht Braunschweig , other players joined the team. In the end they reached 15th place in the league. The KSV Baunatal was at that time with over 3,200 members already one of the biggest clubs in Hesse and the fourth largest club of all second Bundesliga. In the 1977/78 season it was only enough to finish 16th, but the class could be held. Despite the commitment of experienced players like Günter Oleknavicius, formerly SC Fortuna Köln and Kickers Offenbach , Eckhard Deterding, formerly Werder Bremen and Hannover 96 and the young player Wolfgang Reichel , who became German junior champion with the A-Juniors of FC Schalke 04 in the previous season , it succeeded KSV Baunatal failed to position itself better in the league. In the 1978/79 season, Bernd Oles was a coach who had already won the DFB Cup (1960 Borussia Mönchengladbach ). Despite further new signings, such as the experienced Uwe Erkenbrecher , before Werder Bremen and Wattenscheid 09 and the young players Wayne Thomas and Wolfgang Sandhowe , the league could not be held. The KSV Baunatal rose after 3 years of membership as nineteenth in the table in the Oberliga Hessen.

The way to the regional league (1979-2013)

After relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga in 1979, KSV Baunatal played in the Hessian league until 1991, in 1991 he was relegated to the state league, where he remained until 1994. Then it went back to the league for a year, the immediate relegation meant another four years of the national league. Since 1999 the club has played continuously in the Oberliga, or the later Football Hessen League . After KSV Baunatal played continuously for the title of the Football Hessen League in recent years and was mostly only just defeated in the race for promotion, it was won on the penultimate match day of the 2012/13 season with a 3-1 win against FSV 1926 Fernwald reached. Slipping behind fourth place in the table had become impossible, as only FSC Lohfelden and Eintracht Stadtallendorf had registered for the Südwest regional soccer league , and both clubs could no longer catch up with KSV Baunatal. On May 22, 2013, the executive committee of the entire association gave the "green light" for the ascent. On May 25, 2013, KSV Baunatal won the 2012/13 Hessen league season with a 2-1 win at Viktoria Griesheim . At the end of the 2013/14 season the club occupied the penultimate place in the table in the Regionalliga Südwest, but still held the class, as both SG Sonnenhof Großaspach and the second team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 rose to the third division and also no team from the Hessenliga rose to the regional league.

Fourth class in the Parkstadion: The Regionalliga (2013 - 2015)

After 14 years in the Hessenliga, KSV Baunatal was promoted to the Regionalliga Südwest in 2013. With a budget of around 400,000 euros, the league should be held. This budget is comparatively small for the regional league, so league competitor KSV Hessen Kassel planned for the same season with a budget of 1.75 million euros (already reduced compared to the previous season). According to the budget, KSV Baunatal did not plan any major changes in the team. The club built on young players and complemented itself with players from the region. After KSV Baunatal ended the season only on 17th place in the table despite a good second half, relegation was a long way off. The 1. FC Saarbrücken and SV Elversberg rise from the 3. Liga , and with them, first the theoretical chances of relegation. Since Eintracht Frankfurt had withdrawn its junior team and SSV Ulm 1846 did not meet the economic conditions for remaining in the league, SG Sonnenhof Großaspach and the junior team from 1. FSV Mainz 05 entered the 3rd soccer league on June 1, 2014 rose, KSV Baunatal initially remained in the Regionalliga Südwest for 2014/15. This was followed by immediate relegation back to the Hessenliga for the 2015/16 season.
