Stefan Markolf (born January 3, 1984 in Witzenhausen ) is a deaf German football player .

biography

After the youth stations VfB Witzenhausen , KSV Hessen Kassel and KSV Baunatal , the left-footed left-wing defender Markolf played his first league game for KSV Baunatal in the 2002/03 season . In 2004 Markolf joined the regional league team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 together with his teammate Henning Lichte . In his first year in Mainz, Markolf was relegated to the upper league, but played a test match in the Bundesliga team. From the 2005/06 season Markolf was in the professional squad of Mainz; he had his first use on August 24, 2007 in the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach . In 2008/09 he played at Wuppertaler SV Borussia in the 3rd division. In 2009 Markolf signed a two-year contract with KSV Hessen Kassel . In 2010 he agreed with the association to terminate the contract that ran until 2011. After three months without a club, he signed a new contract with his old employer KSV Baunatal. With the club, he rose as champion of the Hessenliga 2013 in the Regionalliga Südwest .

In 2011 he took part in the European Football Championship for the Deaf and won the bronze medal with the German team.

Specialty

Markolf is almost completely deaf from birth. Thanks to speech therapy support, he has an almost flawless pronunciation. Despite his disability, Markolf is certified to have a good overview of the game. He wears special hearing aids when playing .
