Career as a coach

After Sandhowe had acquired his football instructor license at the Sports University in Cologne in 1986 , Hermann Gerland brought him to the amateurs of VfL Bochum . After he had achieved relegation with the FCM, he received a one-year contract until June 30, 2012. After an unsatisfactory start to the season with only one win out of ten games, he was released from his duties in October 2011.
