The Ahlener Sports Association was a sports club from Ahlen in the Warendorf district . The first soccer team played in the Oberliga Westfalen for a year .

history

In 1905, the SSV Ahlen, the oldest parent club of the Ahlen sports association, was founded. The SSV later merged with BV Westfalia Ahlen, founded in 1906, to form SSV Westfalia Ahlen . Both SSV and BV Westfalia played in the highest Westphalian soccer league in the 1920s and 1930s. With nine years of membership, Westfalia had four years more than SSV, which, however , ensured the greatest sporting success in the 1932/33 season . The team finished third behind the Bielefeld clubs Arminia and VfB 03 . The SSV Westfalia in turn belonged after the war between 1952 and 1954 to the then third-class Landesliga Westfalen .

On July 8, 1970, the SSV Westfalia merged with the sports fanatics Wacker Ahlen, founded in 1920, to form the Ahlen sports association. This rose again to the state league in 1971 and made it through to the Westphalia league straight away a year later . There the ASV and TuS Ahlen fought for local supremacy. In the 1975/76 season , the sports association was runner-up behind SC Herford and qualified two years later for the newly created Oberliga Westfalen. From this, the ASV rose as the penultimate of the 1978/79 season . For a few years, the team was still in the midfield of the association league, before relegation to the regional league in 1983. There it went on with mediocrity at first, before things picked up again at the end of the 1980s. In 1992 Ahlener SV was runner-up behind TSV Victoria Clarholz .

On May 24, 1993, the Ahlener Sports Association merged with the handball club HSG Ahlen to form Ahlener SG .
