The SC Waldgirmes is a sports club from the Hessian Waldgirmes with around 700 members . In addition to the best-known department - the footballers playing in the Hessenliga - there are the departments table tennis, women's gymnastics, ski gymnastics and cycling.
history
The association was founded in 1929 as SG Waldgirmes . After the Second World War, FC Waldgirmes split off from the sports community before the two clubs merged again in 1952 in the newly created SC Waldgirmes .
In 1970 the club's footballers were promoted to the group league - today's Football Association of Hesse - and, with two interruptions after being relegated in 1975 and 1993, belonged to this class until 2002. In 2002, the sport club rose to the league championship for the first time in the Hessen Football League , but had to leave it in the first year as bottom of the table. After the immediate resurgence in 2004, Waldgirmes belonged to the Hessen League until the 2012/13 season. During this time, the team managed to win the championship (2008/09 season). However, the club waived promotion to the regional league due to unrealizable requirements for the club structure and venue. The second-placed club FC Bayern Alzenau benefited from this .
In the following seasons 2009/10 and 2010/11 Waldgirmes was runner-up in the Hessen League. After this successful phase in the Hessian top division, it was no longer possible for the team to stay up in the 2011/12 season, and relegation to the Hessen Football Association followed .
After a fourth and two third places, the SCW won the championship title of the Verbandsliga Staffel Mitte in 2017 and has been playing in the Hessenliga soccer league again since the 2017/18 season .
