The Mineralbrunnen Rhön-Sprudel Egon Schindel GmbH is a regional beverage manufacturer based in Ebersburg - Weyhers in the Fulda district . RhönSprudel Group is the name by which the holding company (Egon Schindel Holding GmbH & Co. Beteiligungs KG) is known to the public. The group of companies employs a total of almost 800 people at six locations, including around 300 at the headquarters in Ebersburg-Weyhers.

history

The history of the Rhön-Sprudel mineral fountain in Weyhers began in 1781 with the construction of the fountain initiated by bailiff Georg Ignazius Weikard due to the good quality of the mineral Rhön spring water and the subsequent filling in clay jugs. The water has been filled in glass bottles since 1895 .

The recent history of the Rhön-Sprudel-Group, which belongs to Egon Schindel GmbH, shows numerous company takeovers. After reunification, the Bad Liebenwerda mineral springs were taken over in 1990 , and Bauer Fruchtsaft GmbH , also based in Bad Liebenwerda , was added in 1992 . In 1993, together with the Alsfeld AG brewery , the Vogelsberger Mineralbrunnen also came into the company's ownership, which was sold again in 2009. This was followed in 1995 by the Swiss Adelboden Mineral- und Heilquellen AG (sold again in 2010) and Getränke Otto GmbH with Spreewaldperle Getränkeefachgroßhandel mbH . Herborner Bärenbräu GmbH followed in 2002 and Spreequell Mineralbrunnen GmbH in 2006 . Since 2003, the Bionade soft drink has been bottled at the headquarters in Weyhers and at Herborner Bärenbräu in cooperation with Bionade GmbH . Beverages Otto ceased business operations on June 30, 2007 and was liquidated until the end of 2007; today, the business is continued by the Querfurt SOLID group, independently of the Schindel group. At the end of October 2008, Bärenbräu ceased operations and laid off all employees.

Mineralbrunnen Rhön-Sprudel GmbH is the owner of the trademark rights to the soft drink Club-Cola , but the current composition has nothing to do with the recipe used during the GDR era. The drink is produced in Bad Liebenwerda by the subsidiaries Spreequell Mineralquellen GmbH and Mineralquellen Bad Liebenwerda GmbH.
