Peter Velhorn (born November 24, 1932 in Munich ; † July 20, 2016 there ) was a German football player and coach .

Player career

Emerging from the youth of MTV Munich in 1879 , Velhorn joined FC Bayern Munich in 1950 , for whose second team he played until 1952. From 1952 to 1958 belonged to the squad of the first team with which he - apart from the season 1955/56 , when you played second class for the only time - played in the Oberliga Süd . He made his debut on November 30, 1952 (13th matchday) in a 2-1 win against the Stuttgarter Kickers in the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse ; he scored his first goal in the top German league at the time on December 14, 1952 (15th matchday) in a 3-0 home game against BC Augsburg with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute.

For the 1958/59 season he moved to the Oberliga West for Rot-Weiss Essen and in his first season played alongside Helmut Rahn , the 1954 world champion . After another season for RW Essen, he moved to the second division KSV Hessen Kassel in 1960 , for whom he contributed to promotion to the Oberliga Süd in 1962 with 17 goals in 32 games.

At the end of his active football career, he moved to Austria to the regional league team SK Austria Klagenfurt , for which he was active for two seasons and in his last season contributed to promotion to the National League , Austria's top division.

Coaching career

His first coaching activity was from 1965 at SK Austria Klagenfurt. Until 1980 he was in charge of eight other clubs in Germany and Austria.

Others

After his coaching activity, Velhorn ran a tennis facility in Munich until 1995 .
