Johann Jakob Honegger (born July 13, 1825 in Dürnten , † November 5, 1896 in Stäfa ) was a Swiss cultural historian.

Johann Jakob Honegger attended the teachers' seminar in Küsnacht , went into practical school service, devoted himself to higher studies from 1850, attended the University of Zurich from 1852 to 1856 , then Paris, was a teacher at the seminary in Küsnacht from 1857–1861, and professor at the canton school from 1861–1865 in St. Gallen, then joined the teaching college at the Zurich University as a lecturer in history, German literature and poetics, and in 1874 was appointed professor at the latter.

After he had published two volumes of poems under the title: Herbstblüten (3rd edition: Lieder und Bilder , Leipzig 1887) in 1849 and 1852 , which showed a not inconsiderable poetic talent, he turned to cultural-historical and literary studies.

He published:
