Johann Josef Ammann

Johann Josef Ammann (born July 11, 1852 in Hohenems , † February 13, 1913 in Meran ) was an Austrian ethnographer and educator .

Life

He studied German , history and philosophy in Innsbruck . Since 1883 he worked as a professor in permanent position at the German grammar school in Český Krumlov . In addition to his pedagogical work, Ammann devoted himself to ethnographic terrain research in the German-speaking area of ​​the Bohemian Forest , and he was often called the "Father of Ethnology in the Bohemian Forest". Folk poetry was at the center of his interests.
