Johann Justin Preissler
Johann Justin Preissler (born December 4, 1698 in Nuremberg , † February 18, 1771 ) was a German painter.
Life
Johann Justin Preissler was the eldest son of the painter Johann Daniel Preissler (1666–1737). He was first taught painting and drawing by his father, but traveled to Italy at an early age, where he joined Baron Philipp von Stosch . Here he also attended the academy, where he met Edmé Bouchardon . Five years later he returned to Nuremberg. In 1742 he became director of the Nuremberg Painting Academy . He was married to Susanna Maria Dorsch since 1738 .
Preissler painted, among other things, the Ascension of Christ for the Heilig-Geist-Spital in Nuremberg and the altarpiece in Hersbruck .
