Johann Karl Götzinger (born September 24, 1731 in Wechselburg ; † January 7, 1790 in Sebnitz ; also Johann Karl Goetzinger ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Götzinger studied from May 31, 1749 at the University of Wittenberg , where he obtained the academic degree of Master of Philosophy on October 16, 1751 . He then devoted himself to a theological study and studied the ancient languages for a better understanding of the Bible .

After he had finished his studies, he became a substitute for the pastor in Struppen and was given a pastor's office in Sebnitz, where he worked until the end of his life. From his marriage to the pastor's daughter Christiane Friedericka Gollmitz, the son Wilhelm Leberecht Götzinger is important as the author of the first travel guides for Saxon Switzerland.
