Johann Konrad Sonderegger

Johann Konrad Sonderegger (born November 4, 1834 in Wald ; † July 4, 1885 in Amsterdam ; legal resident in Wald) was a Swiss merchant and consul from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johann Konrad Sonderegger was the son of Jacob Sonderegger, landlord, and Anna Elisabeth Schläpfer. He attended the St. Gallen Cantonal School and completed a commercial apprenticeship in Trogen AR with Salomon Zellweger . From 1853 Sonderegger worked in the Netherlands and from 1855 in the Dutch East Indies . In 1863 he became head of the Ed. Moormann & Cie. in Batavia , today Jakarta , Indonesia . From 1863 to 1871 Sonderegger worked as the first Swiss consul general in Batavia. He donated ethnographic and natural history objects to the canton school and the St. Gallen Nature Museum .
