Johann Kuffer

Johann Kuffer (born May 26, 1947 in Appertshofen ) is a German lawyer with a doctorate and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Career

After completing his legal training, Kuffer entered the higher judicial service of the Free State of Bavaria in 1976 . After working for the public prosecutor and the local court, he was appointed judge at the Ingolstadt local court in 1979 . From 1986 to 1988 he was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant . At the end of the secondment he was appointed presiding judge at the Ingolstadt Regional Court. There he headed a civil chamber and later several criminal chambers, including the jury court. In 1994 he was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice. He was initially assigned to the 4th Criminal Senate. Since March 1996 it belonged to the u. a. VII Civil Senate responsible for building and architectural law , of which he was Deputy Chairman from 2007 until he retired on June 30, 2012. In his many years of activity in all areas of law assigned to the Senate, he played a key role in shaping the case law of this Senate.

In addition to his work as a judge, he actively participated in the work of the collegial bodies of the Federal Court of Justice. He was a member of the Presidium and a deputy member of the Presidial Council.
