The Ingolstadt District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of 73 district courts in Bavaria . It is divided into three buildings, the main building at Neubaustraße 8, and two auxiliary buildings at Harderstraße 6 and Schrannenstraße 3 in Ingolstadt .

history

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, a district court was established in Ingolstadt, the district of which corresponded to that of the previous regional court district of the older order .

In 1899 construction began on the main building at Neubaustraße 8, which was completed in 1901, on the 3120 m² site acquired the year before . On the first floor there was a boardroom for civil meetings and one on the first floor for criminal meetings. On the second floor there were offices and the official residence of the administrative board.

During the occupation of the Allies in the course of the Second World War , the building was cleared and the local American military government was established there. In 1949/1950 the second floor was partially released again, followed by the evacuation of both upper floors in 1952 and the first floor in 1953 by the Americans. From 1953 the building on Neubaustraße was used as a branch of the Munich public prosecutor's office .

In the course of an arson in 1969 that completely destroyed the conference room on the first floor, the district court had to temporarily move to Johannesstrasse. The building has been extensively renovated and a much-needed third boardroom has been set up. The renovation and repair work was completed a year later.

The district court district of Ingolstadt has only existed since 1988, which was formed from parts of the district court districts of Munich II (district courts Ingolstadt and Pfaffenhofen / Ilm ) and Augsburg ( district court Neuburg / Do. ). The building was renovated again in 2008/2009 and completed in March 2009.
