The district court of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm is one of 73 district courts in Bavaria and a court of ordinary jurisdiction based in the city of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm . The court negotiates civil and criminal matters in the area of jurisdiction except for insolvency proceedings , registry matters and foreclosures . The Ingolstadt District Court is responsible for these cases .

History and buildings

The forerunner of the court was the Landgericht Pfaffenhofen , which in addition to jurisdiction also performed administrative tasks and notarizations. A judicial and administrative reform in the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1862 created district offices, the forerunners of the district offices, and assigned them the previous administrative tasks of the regional courts. Since, after the reform, premises were also required for the new district office and the previous premises no longer met the new needs of the regional court, today's district court building was built for it, the construction of which was completed in 1865. After the establishment of the Reich in 1871, the regional court was dissolved in the course of the unification of the judiciary through the Reich Justice Acts in 1879. In its place came today's court with the name "District Court Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm" (until 1918: "Royal Bavarian District Court Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm").

In 1971 and 1972, as part of a local reorganization , consideration was given to dividing the judicial district of the court among the surrounding district courts, but in February 1973 the decision was made to keep the court. The Geisenfeld District Court was dissolved and its district added to the Pfaffenhofen District Court.

The building was finally renovated and expanded from 1986 to 1988.
