Johann Lehner (* 1901 ; † May 3, 1919 ) was a German iron turner and murder victim of the White Terror at the end of the Munich Soviet Republic .

Johann Lehner was imprisoned by Württemberg government soldiers on May 3, 1919, during the suppression of the Munich Soviet Republic . Although he was able to identify himself, they mistook him for a suspect named Seidl or Seidel, who is said to have murdered ten hostages on April 30, 1919 at Munich's Luitpold Gymnasium . Lehner was shot immediately without a trial .

A photograph was taken of the capture by the Württemberg people , which shows Lehner with his hands raised and which was distributed as a postcard and signed with "The hostage murderer Seidl".
