Johann Nepomuk Mayrhofer (born May 9, 1764 in Oberneukirchen , Holy Roman Empire , † 1832 in Munich , Kingdom of Bavaria ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

Johann Nepomuk Mayrhofer was born on May 9, 1764 in Oberneukirchen, part of the Holy Roman Empire, in what is now Upper Austria . The painting he learned at the from 1759 in Linz acting Johann Haslinger and visited subsequently for further training, the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . Mayrhofer was mainly concerned with botanical studies and became a respected and extremely precise flower painter. In collaboration with Hermann Mitterer's Lithographic Art Institute in Munich, he published a number of scientifically and artistically valuable lithographs . Mayrhofer died in 1832 in Munich, the city in which he had lived until the end.
