Johann hallmark
Johann Punz (born September 1, 1843 in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden , † February 28, 1906 in Ramsau) was a German mountaineer from Ramsau near Berchtesgaden. He was also called Preiss (after his peasant fief ).
Together with his neighbor, the mountain guide Johann Grill (called Kederbacher), and the Austrian Albert Kaindl, he managed to cross the three Watzmann peaks for the first time (Hocheck, Mittelspitze and Südspitze) in 1868 .
Together with Ludwig Purtscheller , he carried out the second ascent of the Watzmann east face on June 12, 1885. He was also the first to climb the Kleine Palfelhorn im Hochkalter , together with Franz von Schilcher and J. Schöttl, in the same year.
