Johann Reikerstorfer

Johann Reikerstorfer (born June 12, 1945 in Ybbs an der Donau ) is an Austrian philosopher and Catholic fundamental theologian.

Life

After studying philosophy and theology in St. Pölten , Vienna and Leuven , he qualified as a professor in 1977 in the subject of fundamental theology . He is incardinated as a priest in the diocese of St. Pölten .

From 1979 until his retirement in autumn 2011, Reikerstorfer was a full professor of fundamental theology and apologetics at the University of Vienna . From 1989 to 1991 and from 1993 to 1995 he was also Dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty of this university. As an independent thinker of rank, but also in collaboration with Erich Heintel , Joseph Pritz and Johann Baptist Metz , he has written numerous philosophical and theological publications.

In 2012 Reikerstorfer was awarded the Great Silver Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria .
