Johann Rudolf Studer

Johann Rudolf Studer (born June 15, 1700 in Winterthur , † 1769 in Amsterdam ) was a Swiss painter .

Life

Studer was an apprentice to a painter named Joachim Hettlinger. In Basel he copied a portrait of Margrave Karl III after Johann Rudolf Huber . Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach and caused a stir. He worked for four years with Jean François de Troy in Paris. Studer painted in Geneva and Neuchâtel and in 1735 settled in Bern for twelve years. He then worked in England and Holland.
