Johann Schweinberger

Johann Schweinberger (born May 11, 1894 in Neukirchen am Großvenediger ; † February 2, 1985 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CS / ÖVP ) and innkeeper. From 1932 to 1934 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1948 to 1949 a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

After attending primary school, Schweinberger worked as a lumberjack and served between 1914 and 1919 in World War I or was a prisoner of war . In 1921 he became self-employed as a timber entrepreneur and in 1930 opened a restaurant in Neukirchen.

Politics and functions

Schweinberger became a member of the Neukirchen community council in 1921 and rose to become a member of the community council in 1928. He worked between 1932 and 1934 as vice mayor and from 1934 to 1938 and after an interruption due to the Second World War from 1945 to 1969 he was mayor of his home community Neukirchen. He also represented the Christian Social Party from May 19, 1932 to October 31 in the Salzburg state parliament. After the end of the war, he was a member of the National Council of the ÖVP from February 18, 1948 to November 8, 1949. In Wirtschaftsbund he had the function of the chairman's deputy held from 1945 to 1966 in Pinzgau, further he was from 1948 to 1965 deputy chairman of the Salzburg Municipal Association and from 1960 deputy chairman of the tourism section of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce. He was also active as chairman of the Pinzgau mayors' conference and chairman and honorary chairman of the Austrian Association of Comradeships in Pinzgau.
