The Hirtlohweiher near Schwandorf is a nature reserve , FFH area and EU bird sanctuary near Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .
The nature reserve is located 4 kilometers southeast of Schwandorf. It is part of the two Fauna-Flora-Habitat (FFH) Charlottenhofer Weihergebiet, Hirtlohweiher and Langwiedteiche and the EU bird sanctuary Charlottenhofer Weihergebiet, Hirtlohweiher and Langwiedteiche .
The 64 hectare area essentially comprises the water surface in the center and extensive silting areas. Here you will find near-natural standing water and silting areas. It is a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. The shallow water zones, silting areas, reeds, transitional moor and scrub forest areas are an important resting and breeding area for bird species bound to the wetlands.
The nature reserve was designated on March 3, 1993.
