Johann Temmen

Johann Temmen (born September 20, 1886 in Neermoor ; † August 7, 1959 in Jever ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending primary school, Temmen completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and worked from 1923 to 1945 as a foreman. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . He joined the SPD in 1908 and was district leader of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold für Ostfriesland- Süd during the Weimar Republic until 1933 .

During the National Socialist era , he was briefly interned in Neuengamme concentration camp in 1944.

After the Second World War , Temmen worked as a site manager from 1945. He was active in local politics and in 1948 was elected chairman of the SPD local association in Leer . He was also a member of the district council of the district of Leer .

He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1949 to 1953 from its first election . He represented the constituency of Leer in parliament and was a member of the Petitions Committee.
