Johann Wilhelm Windter (also: Winter ; * around 1696; † 1765 in Nuremberg ) was a German engraver and draftsman .

Life

Johann Wilhelm Windter was a so-called " reproduction artist "; he reproduced unique works by painters and draftsmen such as MF Kleinert , J. Kenkel , P. Decker and others for a larger audience . His works were often portraits of personalities from his Baroque era . His works sometimes bear the monogram "JWW" and were also used in the press in the Age of Enlightenment .
