Johann Wilhelm of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld
Johann Wilhelm von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld (born May 11, 1726 in Coburg , † June 4, 1745 in Striegau ) was a prince of Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld . As Duke of Saxony, he is also known as Johann Wilhelm XII. counted.
Life
Johann Wilhelm was the second son of Duke Franz Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1697–1764) from his marriage to Anna Sophia (1700–1780), daughter of Prince Ludwig Friedrich I of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .
Johann Wilhelm, like his younger brothers Christian Franz and Friedrich Josias , was destined for a military career. He entered the service of the Electorate of Saxony . Since 1744 lieutenant colonel in the Brühl infantry regiment, he took part in the Second Silesian War and fell during the Battle of Hohenfriedberg , probably in Striegau. Despite an intensive search, his body was never found.
