Johann Zacharias Leonhard Junkheim

Johann Zacharias Leonhard Junkheim (born September 8, 1729 in Ansbach ; †  August 17, 1790 ibid) was a German theologian, rector, philologist and song writer. The Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie cites as the reason for its entry on Junkwitz his "services to the church, grammar schools and schools in the Principality of Onolzbach, especially to the University of Erlangen ".

Life

Junkheim studied theology in Göttingen from 1747 to 1750 . He switched to the University of Helmstedt for one semester , "which was characterized by a freer direction". His academic teachers included Johann Lorenz von Mosheim and Johann Matthias Gesner . In 1752 he returned to Ansbach, where he became vicar at the main church in 1754, vice rector in 1757 and rector of the grammar school in 1760.

In 1763 he became preacher to the palace of the widowed Margravine Friederike Luise and at the same time pastor in Schwaningen . From 1770 he worked under the new prince in the modernization of the University of Erlangen, for example by drafting a new curriculum for theology studies. In 1775 he was appointed general superintendent.

His literary activities included the co-editing of the Ansbach magazine " Der Freund " , published between 1754 and 1756 . In the same area Junkheim contributed to an edition with Horace translations. Together with Johann Peter Uz , he published the "New Anspachian Hymnal" in 1781, which saw several editions.
