Johanna Gabillon

Johanna Gabillon , née Johanna von Zahlhaas , (born July 1, 1818 in Leipzig , † March 5, 1875 in Oldenburg ) was an Austro-German actress.

Life

Johanna was a daughter of the musician Johann Baptist von Zahlhaas and received her first artistic lessons from her father. As early as 1834 she made her successful debut at the Leipzig Theater . She stayed there until the summer of 1835 and then went to Berlin to the Königsstädtische Theater .

After five years she was engaged by Julius Mosen , the artistic director of the Grand Ducal Court Theater in Oldenburg (Oldb.). There she appeared for the first time on November 10, 1840 and was seen as "Maria Stuart". On June 14, 1847 she married her colleague Ludwig Gabillon . The connection resulted in a son. The marriage was short-lived and divorced in 1852.

In 1865 Gabillon celebrated her 25th stage anniversary at the age of 47 and took this as an occasion for her official farewell from the stage. In the following years she took on one or the other role and finally withdrew into private life in 1867. On March 5, 1875, at the age of 56, she died after weeks of suffering in Oldenburg, where she also found her final resting place.
