Johannes Adam (fencer)

Johannes Adam (* 1871 ; † after 1921) was a German fencer . He took part in the 1908 Olympic Games in London and the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm. His club was the Dresden Fecht Club .

Before the First World War , Adam took part in numerous tournaments: In 1907 Adam won the foil beauty prize at a fencing tournament in Dresden . At a national tournament in Munich in 1908 he was third with the saber . In 1909 and 1910 he took part in international tournaments in Offenbach, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt, and in 1911 he took 3rd place in foil at an international tournament in Dresden.

At the German fencing championships Adam was eighth with the saber in 1913 and fifth in 1914 , and in 1920 he was eighth with the sword. With the team of the Dresden Fencing Club, he won the German team championships with the foil in 1921 .

As a member of the German national team, Adam fought in an international match in Frankfurt against the teams of Austria-Hungary and Belgium in 1910. Both team fights were lost, the results of the individual fights are not known. 1908 Adam took part in the Olympic Games in London in Degen - and saber individual part, but was eliminated in the first round with both weapons. In 1912 he was eliminated from the foil singles in the first round. As a member of the German saber team, he came in seventh.
