Johannes Adrian von Plencken

Johannes Adrianus von Plencken , also Joannes Adrianus Pleinck (born July 26, 1635 in Warburg ( Westphalia ); † April 8, 1719 in Breslau ( Silesia )) was a lawyer and high official.

Life

After attending school in Warburg, he began studying at the theological college in Paderborn in 1650 . From 1656 to 1660 he studied at the University of Prague and 1661 at the University of Ingolstadt . A trip to Italy followed.

From 1665 he was an advisor for Bohemian-Moravian-Silesian law. In 1667, Emperor Leopold I raised him to the bohemian knighthood . From 1668 he was a senior official in Wroclaw. During his tenure, the University of Wroclaw was founded. He represented the emperor at the inauguration ceremony on November 15, 1702. In 1678 he was promoted to the rank of baron. On the occasion of his fiftieth anniversary of service as senior councilor in 1718, he was appointed to the secret council and a medal was issued in his honor.

Due to his function, Plencken was also Chancellor of the University of Breslau. During the plague wave in Silesia from 1708 to 1713, he organized quarantine measures and medical care.
