Johannes Biermann (legal scholar)

Johannes Biermann (born June 11, 1863 in Berlin , † June 19, 1915 near Lemberg ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Biermann grew up in Berlin as the son of a portrait painter and professor. After attending Wilhelms-Gymnasium , he studied law . Along with Max Rötger he belonged in 1881 to the founding fellows of Landsmannschaft Guilelmia . After the state examinations , Biermann completed his habilitation in Berlin in 1890 with the script Traditio ficta, dedicated to his teacher Heinrich Dernburg , and became an associate professor for civil law. In 1896 he became full professor and rector in Gießen . In 1912 he followed the call to Halle (Saale) to the Ordinariate for Roman and Civil Law. In 1915 Johannes Biermann fell as captain of the reserve near Lemberg, as did his second son Hans a little later.
