Johannes Caspers

John Caspers (* 8. June 1910 in Steinborn (down) in the Eifel ; † 20th September 1986 in Dusseldorf ) was a German politician of the CDU .

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school in Düsseldorf in 1924, Caspers completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and worked as a journeyman carpenter from 1927 to 1932. At the same time he attended the adult education center and social science courses of the Catholic workers' movement (KAB). In 1932/33 he completed a course at the technical college for economics and administration and then worked in the food wholesale business. From 1940 he was a soldier and at the end of the Second World War he became a prisoner of war, from which he returned in 1946. He had three children from his first marriage. Herrmann-Josef and the twins Gertrud and Leo. His first wife died in 1949.

From 1947 onwards, Caspers was a workers secretary at the KAB in Düsseldorf.

Political party

From 1928 to 1933 Caspers belonged to the Windthorstbund , the youth organization of the ZENTRUM . In 1946 he joined the CDU and in 1947 became a member of the Düsseldorf district committee.

MP

From 1946 Caspers was a city councilor in Düsseldorf. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1961. He represented the constituency of Düsseldorf II in parliament.
