Johannes Domsich

Johannes Domsich (born August 5, 1960 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian media scientist , art historian , cultural scientist , author and entrepreneur .

Life

Johannes Domsich graduated from the technical school for graphic design at the technical college in Linz with the training areas advertising graphics, original graphics, printmaking, photography and then graduated in 1982 at the evening grammar school Spittelwiese in Linz. He then studied journalism and communication studies and art history at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate at the University of Applied Arts Vienna on the subject of "Visualization as a cultural deficit?" In 2007 Domsich completed his habilitation at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in the field of cultural history and new media.

Domsich worked from 1990 to 1996 as a contract and research assistant at the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna. Since then he has given lectures at the Institute for Theater Studies, at the University of Applied Arts, at the Mozarteum Salzburg, Department of Stage and Costume Design, Film and Exhibition Architecture, at the International Center For Culture & Management (ICCM), the center for visual studies at Danube University Krems , at the Filmkolleg Wien, the Theresianische Military Academy Wiener Neustadt, at the FHWien , degree course Communication Management, at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg , department head of media studies, where he was responsible for the course management of the university degree course MultiMediaArt between 1998 and 2001.

Domsich was awarded the university professorship in 2000 by the Austrian University of Applied Sciences Conference, in recognition of special achievements in the field of the Austrian university of applied sciences sector.

Domsich's academic focus is on cultural and art history, iconography , aesthetics , media morphology and opinion research .

In addition to his academic career, Domsich worked as a costume designer and artistic advisor for the Vienna State Opera (1984), for the Tanztheater Wien, Liz King (1988), the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf (1990), the Deutsche Oper Duisburg (1991), Arnhem, Introdanse (1991), Deutsche Oper Dresden (1991), Zurich Opera House (1991) and the Basel Theater (1991/1992).

Between 1998 and 2002 Domsich worked as a freelance creative director for the GGK advertising agency in Vienna, Lowe Lintas, and as a freelance strategy consultant for FCB Vienna. In parallel to his academic and university work, Domsich was a member of the following commissions (selection): Jury of the state and sponsorship award, Prix MultiMediaAustria 2000, cultural awards of the state of Lower Austria for the area of ​​"media art" 2006, image competition, Vienna Biocenter, dialog <> gentechnik 2009.

Domsich has been researching quantitative and qualitative market and opinion research on the Internet since 2002, where he uses unique methods to observe the course of opinion, create trend and tendency analyzes and attention cycles.

As an entrepreneur, Domsich has been a partner and managing director of the D&S consulting agency since 2003; The focus is on communication strategies, communication consulting, content creation and management, market and opinion research.
