Johannes Eylau

Johannes Eylau (born November 27, 1880 in Landsberg an der Warthe , † 1970 ) was a German lawyer.

Career

Eylau came as the son of grammar school professor Otto Eylau and Elise Eylau, nee. Boigk, to the world. After attending grammar school in Landsberg, he studied law at the universities in Halle (Saale) and Berlin . In the summer of 1902 he passed the trainee examination and in 1908 the Grand State Examination. He joined the Prussian judicial service as a court assessor. On April 6, 1911, he was appointed district judge at the Wedding District Court , and on September 16, 1914 as a district judge at District Court I in Berlin. During the First World War he was a reserve officer in the field artillery at the front. He was badly wounded and lost his left eye. In 1916 he was taken prisoner by the French in Switzerland.

After returning home, he served as a district judge in Landsberg an der Warthe from January 1, 1919, and as a district judge there from June 1, 1919. On September 18, 1921, he returned to the District Court I in Berlin as Regional Court Director and was chairman of the patent chamber there until 1927. In 1928 he was appointed President of the Reich Patent Office. In 1934 he was transferred to the Reich Ministry of Labor , where he remained until the end of the war.

In 1946 he was briefly director of the district court in Berlin and from 1947 to 1949 President of the Berlin Patent Office. In 1949 he joined the German Patent Office in Munich for the Federal Ministry of Justice . With effect from November 16, 1950, he was appointed President of the Senate at the Munich Higher Regional Court. On January 1, 1953, he retired.
