Johannes Felix

Johannes Paul Felix (born September 6, 1859 Leipzig , † January 25, 1941 ibid) was a German paleontologist .

Life

Felix grew up in Leipzig and passed the Abitur at the Nicolai Gymnasium there. He then studied first in Erlangen and Leipzig. He received his doctorate in Leipzig in 1882 and completed his habilitation in 1884. From 1887 to 1888 he was on research trips to Mexico with Hans Lenk . On October 12, 1888 ( matriculation no. 2777 ) he was elected a member of the Leopoldina . He was then an associate professor at the University of Leipzig from 1891 to 1933, and from 1914 to 1941 director of the Paleontological Museum. Since 1903 he was a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences .
