Johannes Fischer (pianist)
Johannes Fischer (born October 23, 1936 in Leipzig ; † February 24, 2019 ) was a German pianist , composer and choir conductor .
Life
Fischer was born in Leipzig as the son of the musician Rudolf Fischer . He studied at the Ignaz-Günther-Gymnasium in Rosenheim and the Thomasschule in Leipzig . After graduating from high school, he studied piano , composition and choral conducting at the Leipzig University of Music .
In 1980 he became professor for piano at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . He was also General Secretary and Vice President of the Beethoven Society in Munich . From 1972 to 1990 he was editor of Ludwig van Beethoven's piano music at Edition Peters . He continued this activity in 2005. Fischer published the sonatas op. 31 and op. 106 with commentaries and revision reports.
Fischer died on February 24, 2019 at the age of 82.
