Johannes Christian Hansen ( Hanseeraq ; born April 4, 1837 in Qaqortoq , † June 18, 1911 in Alluitsup Paa ) was a Greenlandic catechist and expedition member .

Johannes Hansen was the son of the Danish carpenter Hans Jacob Hansen and his wife Juditha Andersen. He was an uncle of Henrik Lund (1875–1948) and Johan Petersen (1867–1960) and a descendant of Anders Olsen . In 1858, after completing his training at Grønland's seminary, at the age of 21, he became a catechist in Alluitsup Paa. He later became head catechist and worked in the village all his life until his death.

In 1884 the Danish naval officer Gustav Frederik Holm began his women's boat expedition . He selected Johannes Hansen to be the leader of the 31 Kalaallit who were taken along . During the expedition, Hansen also worked as Holms' interpreter. As a missionary, he was also the first person to confront the Tunumiit with Christianity . In addition, he made a complete and detailed census of the Tunumiit, where he recorded every East Greenlander with place of residence and name in writing, as well as the first records of the East Greenland dialect . His experiences during the expedition are recorded in his diary , which Signe Rink published in excerpts in 1900 and later completely translated by Pastor Otto Kristoffer Skaarup by William Thalbitzer in 1933.

On August 11, 1861, he married Ellen Dorthe Magdalene Isaksen in Qaqortoq and later married the widow Kathrine again. In 1886 he was appointed Dannebrogsmand .
