Johannes Kolb (born January 19, 1736 in Kirchheim unter Teck , † 1810 there ) was a German textile entrepreneur. He laid the entrepreneurial foundation stone for what would later become Kolb & Schüle AG.

Life

Johannes Kolb was born as the son of the town clerk Georg Nikolaus Kolb. After completing his training as a merchant and years of wandering, he opened a spices and grocery store in Kirchheim unter Teck on the market square in 1760 , where he set up two looms for the production of ducklings , scarves for women and cotton snuffers . Years of disputes with the local guild of cloth and linen weavers, as well as several petitions to the Württemberg sovereign Duke Carl Eugen for approval and further development of his company marked the coming years.

His daughter Johanna Elisabeth married Konrad Friedrich Schüle on November 10, 1799. Shortly afterwards, on January 1, 1800, Johannes Kolb took his son-in-law and son Johann Jakob Kolb into the company as partners. A year later he completely transferred the “ Open Trading Company Kolb & Schüle” to the two of them.
