Johannes Kortmann

Johannes Kortmann (born September 21, 1889 in Hollen ; † November 2, 1965 in Aurich ) was a German educator , naval officer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Kortmann completed the teacher’s seminar, passed the supplementary examination and the Abitur and then studied philosophy and economics for three semesters. From 1910 to 1914 he worked as a teacher at an elementary school. He did military service as a one-year volunteer in 1912/13 and took part in the First World War as a soldier from 1914 to 1918 . In 1919 he was released from the Reichswehr as a lieutenant .

Kortmann worked from 1921 to 1937 as a teacher at the higher marine technical schools for administration and economics in Cuxhaven and Wilhelmshaven . He switched to the Wehrmacht as a professional soldier in 1937 and took part in the Second World War as a soldier from 1939 to 1945 . In 1946 he was discharged from military service as a sea captain and finally retired in 1953.

Political party

Kortmann joined the CDU in 1945 and was later elected chairman of the Aurich CDU district association.

MP

Kortmann had been a member of the Aurich district council since 1948 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. He was drawn into parliament via the Lower Saxony state list. From 1959 to 1963 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .
