Johannes Kridt

Johannes Kridt (* 16th century in Nienborg ; † 1577 ) was auxiliary bishop in Münster .

Life

Johannes Kridt studied theology in Cologne from 1539 to 1542 . After completing his studies, Kridt taught at the Laurentianum grammar school there from 1547 to 1550 . Later he is said to have bequeathed his fortune to the establishment of a study foundation affiliated to his former college. In addition, Kridt donated a large part of his fortune to found a seminary in Münster.

In 1548 Johannes Kridt was assistant to Johannes Gropper in Soest , where he tried in vain to establish the Augsburg interim together with him, especially as his priest at St. Petri . On Gropper's recommendation, Kridt became auxiliary bishop and vicar general in Münster that same year . In 1552 Johannes Kridt took part in the Council of Trento as representative of the Prince-Bishop of Münster, Franz von Waldeck , together with his friend and supporter Johannes Gropper .
