Johannes Mesmer

Johannes Mesmer (born December 13, 1791 in Muttenz ; † November 9, 1870 there ) was a Swiss politician and Freemason .

Life

From 1819 to 1861 Mesmer was the key's host in Muttenz. In 1838 he was district court president , in 1840 road and hydraulic engineering inspector and in 1831 a member of the provisional government of Basel . During the turmoil of separation he was a war commissioner and in 1833 a division commissioner.

In the years 1832, 1838, 1850, 1862 and 1863 he was a constitutional councilor and from 1832 to 1842 and from 1866 to 1869 he was district administrator . In the years 1839 and 1846 he was the delegate of the Diet and from 1851 to 1854 he was in the National Council , counting on the left. In the years 1848-1850, 1855-1865, he was to 1856 and from 1863 Executive Council .

First Mesmer was a supporter of the movement, then the party of order and in 1861 finally the so-called revision society. The Mesmer inn was the meeting place for the Baden revolutionaries in 1849 .
