Johannes Neumann (politician, 1918)

Johannes Neumann (born February 27, 1918 in Czarnikau , Province of Posen ; † July 23, 2012 ) was a German politician (SPD) in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg . A teacher by profession, he was also involved in the Pomeranian Landsmannschaft .

As a toddler, Neumann came to Stettin from his hometown Czarnikau, which was defeated to Poland after the First World War . Here he grew up and attended the Marienstiftsgymnasium up to the Abitur. Due to time restrictions, this was followed by two months of national labor service in 1936 and then two years of military service in the Wehrmacht . He began a course of study that he soon had to end again due to military service in World War II . Since Szczecin had come to Poland after the Second World War, he went to Hamburg, began teaching there and became a teacher in 1956.

Neumann joined the SPD in 1959 . During the 9th electoral term (1978 to 1982) he was a member of the Hamburg parliament . He was also a member of the Education and Science Union .

Neumann was also involved in the Pomeranian country team . In 1953 he became chairman of the Pomeranian Youth and led them to join the German Youth of the East . He later became a member of the national board of the Pomeranian Landsmannschaft, which in 1995 made him an honorary member.
