Johannes Nordhoff

Johannes Nordhoff (born March 28, 1870 in Harsum ; † June 5, 1950 ) was a German insurance manager .

Nordhoff joined a private bank in Hildesheim in 1891 as a bank apprentice, and in 1900 he received power of attorney there .

Nordhoff headed the Berlin Fire Insurance Institution from 1920 to 1940 and then again from 1946 as General Director or Chairman of the Board . He was also a member of the supervisory board of Union und Rhein Versicherungs-AG (Berlin), Württembergische Feuerversicherung AG (Stuttgart), Allgemeine Renten-Anstalt, Lebens- und Rentenversicherungs-AG (Stuttgart) and chairman of the employers' association of insurance companies in Germany .

Nordhoff married Ottilie, a daughter of the Düsseldorf history painter Heinrich Lauenstein . The couple's children included the later VW chairman Heinrich Nordhoff and the later chairman of the Berlin fire insurance company Hans Nordhoff (1901–1950).
