Johannes Plachetius (* 1574 in Meseritsch in Moravia; † April 18, 1635 in Tübingen ) was a Moravian doctor and professor at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Johannes Plachetius had apparently received an education in Moravia and Bohemia. In 1597 he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg , where he earned the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy in 1598. He then completed medical studies in Wittenberg, with Jan Jessenius leading his training. He continued these medical studies in 1604 at the University of Basel , where he obtained his doctorate in medical sciences in 1605 with the dissertation " Theses de Dysenteria ". In the year of his doctorate, he moved to the University of Tübingen , where apparently tried to take up a university career. But in 1611 he found a job as a city physician in Stuttgart and became court doctor there in 1622. In 1630 he became a full professor of medicine at the University of Tübingen. His portrait hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .
